ORNELLAIA WINE TOUR

Founded in 1981 by Marchese Lodovico Antinori, brother of Piero Antinori, Ornellaia is not one of Tuscany’s most historic wineries, but it has become one of its most respected. From its position on the hillside close to Bolgheri on the Tuscan coast, Ornellaia estate produces one of the Italy’s leading Bordeaux-style red wines. Here the cool maritime breeze caresses the vineyards throughout the summer months, while, in wintertime the hills give them protection. Ornellaia success is due both to the Antinori commitment to the philosophy of “quality without compromise” and to the unique climate and terrain here. We will start with the visit of the cellar, where you will learn not just about wine, but also about contemporary artworks that are part of Vendemmia d’Artista (Artist’s Harvest) project, installed in different locations in the estate. Then we will visit the barrel cellar, the “barricaia,” where the French barriques enfold and mature the base wines that will make up Ornellaia and Le Serre Nuove dell’Ornellaia. The estate tour is concluded with a guided tasting of the current vintages of Le Volte dell’Ornellaia, Le Serre Nuove dell’Ornellaia,Variazioni in Rosso dell’Ornellaia and Ornellaia. To end this fantastic experience, your lunch (including wine) will be served in a private room inside the estate.
